The Abuja
division of court of Appeal on Wednesday upheld the decision of Rivers State
Election petition tribunal which nullified the election of Nyesom Wike, the
Governor of Rivers State.
In a 110-page ruling delivered by Justice M.B.
Dongban-Mensem the Court ruled that the election of Nyesom Wike did not conform
with the Electoral Act.
The five-man panel of Appeal Court dismissed all grounds
of appeal raised against the decision of Justice Suleiman Ambrossa tribunal’s
nullification of the election by Wike in favour of his challenger.
Dakuku Peterside, the candidate of All Progressives
Congress, APC, in the April 11 Rivers State gubernatorial election had
challenged the result of the election which he said was marred by malpractices.
