A 30-year-old
Nigerian man, Francis Ihenwe Oderah, who claimed to be a footballer in Cambodia
has been sentenced to 8 years in imprisonment and fined 40 million riel (about
$10,000) for drug trafficking.
The accused on June 7
during his hearing by Judge Svay Tonh in Phnom Penh Municipal Court, reportedly
admitted to have acted as a delivery man, insisting he was not a drug dealer.
In his ruling on
Tuesday, Tonh ordered that the accused carry out his sentence in Prey Sar
prison, where he had been detained since his arrest in January.
“Three phones and a
passport taken from the defendant upon his arrest would be returned”, he judge
